We’re Not Done Yet: Questions Shaping the Futures of Virtual Worlds

The explosion of interest and innovative uses of virtual world has been driven by academia. Many universities and researchers have pioneered the distributed learning, online research, and collaboration techniques now being used throughout Second Life and other virtual worlds. However, as Moore’s Law, mobile adoption, and pervasive connectivity combine to drive technology forward and into the hands of more users, questions remain unanswered. This talk will focus on trends shaping next steps for virtual worlds and the research questions arising from those directions.
