Make Money, Make Impact: Publishing Models for Games and 24/7 Learning
Alan Gershenfeld · Michael Levine
Fri., June 12, 11:00–12:30, Main Lounge (2nd floor, Central)
This fireside chat will explore potential publishing strategies and business models for games that can seamlessly cross in-school, out-of-school, and after-school settings. While there is an increasingly broad-based consensus that games are a very powerful and under-utilized platform for learning, there are still relatively few games that have had both wide-spread adoption in schools and broad-based consumer adoption. The conversation will explore strategies for making, marketing, and distributing games that can be effective in schools, museums, libraries, community centers, and at home — a publishing model for a fully integrated 24/7 learning strategy. Alan Gershenfeld, founder and president of E-Line Ventures, former SVP of Activision Studios, and chairman of Games for Change will lead the conversation citing examples from E-Line Ventures, a new publisher of double-bottom-line computer/videogames and webcomics/graphic novels.
