Rebecca Lowenhaupt is a doctoral student in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research interests include literacy development in marginalized youth and school reform in the context of demographic shift. Her dissertation research focuses on education in the context of emerging immigrant communities. She is interested in the ways in which effective literacy practices outside of school can be translated into the school environment. She is a former middle school teacher.
