Dr. Wendy Martin, a senior research associate at the Education Development Center’s Center for Children and Technology (EDC/CCT) has worked in the field of education for almost 20 years. In her 8 years at EDC, Dr. Martin’s work has focused on evaluating large-scale educational programs to understand how key program components influence program impact and participant experience; overseeing the analysis of large datasets, including large datasets of student assessment data; and conducting formative research to understand how educational technologies can support student learning. Currently Dr. Martin is the coordinator for one of the National Research and Development Centers in Instructional Technology, housed at CCT. This center is conducting research on how digital games can support science learning and is developing a life science game that makes use of the Nintendo DS and the web. She is also the project director of the evaluation of the eMINTS program, a technology professional development program that has reached hundreds of teachers and thousands of students in Missouri. Dr. Martin was also co-project director of the New Mexico Reading First evaluation and was part of the team conducting the evaluation of Intel Teach Essentials Course, a technology professional development program that has reached millions of teachers worldwide. As part of her work with the Intel Teach Essentials program, she has also provided evaluation guidance to evaluators and program managers internationally. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Duke University, her master’s degree from New York University’s School of Education, and her doctorate from Cornell University.
