Sara Hansen
Biography

Sara Steffes Hansen, a PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication, is an instructor of Journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Her research interests focus on strategic communication in interactive media, with emphasis on consumer engagement with marketing campaigns via social media. Hansen’s dissertation explores avatar interactions with brands in virtual worlds. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Marketing Communications and Journal of Interactive Advertising. She has an MBA from the University of Colorado–Denver and a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. She previously worked in public relations and marketing for high-tech companies.
