Derek Lomas

Biography

J. Derek Lomas is a Human Computer Interactions PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science. In 2009, he received his Visual Arts MFA from University of California, San Diego, where he studied social design and founded the Social Movement Laboratory (www.socialmovement.org). He lived in India from 2007–2008, designing BOP mobile applications for Qualcomm and then teaching “Design for Development: Developing Technologies for Developing Economies” for UCSD (www.design4dev.com). He received his BA in Cognitive Science from Yale University in 2003.
