Jennifer Clifton is a PhD student in Curriculum and Instruction (English education) at Arizona State University (ASU). A native of Savannah, Georgia, Jennifer earned her bachelor’s in communication and her master’s in composition and rhetoric from Kennesaw State University. Before moving to Arizona, Jennifer spent the last several years in north Georgia teaching middle school writing and serving as a mass communication specialist for the Navy Reserve. Her research interests include the teaching of composition, the training of writing teachers, collaboration between the fields of rhetoric and composition and English education, new literacies, and the social and educational impacts of digital cultures and social media. She is currently teaching First Year Composition at ASU and designing a study with researchers in the Situated Multimedia Arts Learning Lab at ASU to examine embodiment’s role in student’s composing processes when they are developing game-like scenarios for participants.
