Seann Dikkers
Biography

Seann Dikkers is a doctoral student in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He holds B.A. degrees in philosophy, political science, and education and a M.A. degree in educational leadership from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. Dikkers taught middle school social studies in the Twin Cities area for ten years using portfolio and games-based instruction in the classroom. He served as school administrator for 4 years. There he led his school in pioneering a new scaffolded-quest platform for special education services and worked with Rosetta Stone to build a “Language Lab” for students to take over thirty courses in a games-based setting.
Dikkers’ work, under adviser Kurt Squire, has been to develop a curriculum using games-based instruction, assist on real time research, explore leadership and teaching development using games, and working as a “translator” between new literacy studies and educators. On the web, he manages the MobileMediaLearning site for developers and educators looking at mobile media and shares his personal efforts at Gaming Matters.
