Biography

Ivan Alex Games is a doctoral candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a member of the Games+Learning+Society group, and, in the near future, Associate Professor in the Telecommunications, Information Studies, and Media program at Michigan State University. For the past three years, he has worked in collaboration with James Paul Gee at the UW and with Eric Zimmerman and Katie Salen at Gamelab as lead research assistant in the Gamestar Mechanic project, a flash-based MORPG designed to teach children to think as designers by making their own games. His current research examines the relationship between the acquisition of fluency communicating through games as multimodal forms of language and a designer mindset in the construction of 21st century learning and literacy environments.
