Alex Games
Biography

Ivan Alex Games is Assistant Professor in Telecommunication, Information Studies, and Media, member of the Games for Entertainment and Learning Lab, and Adjunct Professor in Educational Psychology and Technology at Michigan State University. His research concentrates in the use of games and interactive media design to promote language, learning, and literacy skills in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics for adolescents and adults. He is also interested in issues of access and equity in the use of technology for social advancement among disadvantaged and minority groups. Alex is originally from Mexico where he earned a B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering in 1999. He worked as a robotics and automation R&D engineer for National Instruments until 2004. He completed a Master’s in Educational Technology in 2007 and more recently his PhD in Curruculum and Instruction/Learning Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he remains a collaborator with the Games, Learning and Society group.
