Erica Halverson
Biography

Erica Rosenfeld Halverson is an Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences in the Educational Psychology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also a proud member of the Games+Learning+Society Research Group, your humble hosts for this conference. Erica's research focuses on artistic production, specifically how young people learn to make art based on the stories of their lives and how this process impacts identity development and literacy learning. Since coming to UW, Erica has looked specifically at digital art-making and the affordances of digital media production in identity construction and representation and adolescents' mastery of new literacies. Erica has recently published in the Journal of Adolescent Research, Teachers College Record, and E-Learning. She is particularly proud of the Winter 09-10 special issue of the Journal of Computing and Teacher Education which features work by several GLS scholars and outlines a vision for digital media and the future of schooling.
