Andrew Hoffman
Biography

Andy Hoffman is a producer, educator, entrepreneur, author and scholar. For the past three years, he has worked for WGBH as the Director of the American History and Civics Initiative, a $20 million investment in cutting-edge digital learning by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Overseeing seven multi-site convergence projects simultaneously, Dr. Hoffman helped redefine the direction of interactive learning. He continues to work to bridge the gap between technology and education through his deep knowledge of the intersection of games, learning and cognitive development.
Dr. Hoffman has taught every grade level from Kindergarten through graduate school and worked extensively with pre-service and in-service teachers to transform pedagogy in public schools. He founded and ran Goosewing, an educational technology company based on his proprietary software, and is certified as a superintendent. Dr. Hoffman has published novels, short fiction, journalism and book-length non-fiction, including Inventing Mark Twain (Morrow, 1997), which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
