Rik Panganiban
Biography

Rik Panganiban is the Assistant Director of the Online Leadership Program at Global Kids. He manages and implements a range of projects utilizing his expertise in various forms of digital media, from a virtual fossil dig in Teen Second Life to a series of trainings for nonprofits on how to utilize virtual worlds effectively in their work. Rik has over 15 years of experience as a nonprofit organizer and activist using digital media to increase public engagement on important global issues, from the International Criminal Court to Internet Governance to the Millennium Development Goals. Most recently, he was the coordinator of an innovative program at the Social Science Research Council that connected media activists and media academics with funding and cross-disciplinary project support. In 2007, Rik authored a report on Best Practices for Nonprofits in Second Life, still one of the definitive resources for public sector organizations working in virtual worlds.
