Nathan Patterson
Biography

Nathan Patterson is a Research Associate with the Education Research and Development Group (ERDG) at the Morgridge Institute for Research, a group that is focusing on creating engaging and entertaining educational games that utilize the expertise and scientific models from researchers at the Morgridge Institute and the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is the lead game designer and developer for the ERDG and is working on interfacing agent-based modeling techniques, high-throughput computing resources, and complex player behavioral analyses with game design. Dr Patterson received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, where he became an expert user of Condor, the world’s leading high-throughput computing platform, a certified Radio Frequency Identification technician, and received a specialization in Computational Engineering. He has used a combination of systems modeling, agent-based modeling and programming, machine learning techniques, and nonlinear dynamics analyses to draw conclusions on a high-order nonlinear socio-technical system, the Beer Distribution Game.
