Dr. Lisa Galarneau is a graduate of the Department of Screen and Media Studies at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. As a digital/cyborg anthropologist intrigued by contemporary material cultures, kinship, learning, and social dynamics, her research focused on social learning associated with virtual worlds, and she continues to explore the promise and possibility of digital spaces. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Socio-cultural Anthropology at The University of California at Berkeley in 1993, a Master of Science in Education degree, option in Online Teaching and Learning, at California State University Hayward in 2003.

Lisa resides in Seattle, WA and has previously done digital media research and development at Microsoft Games User Research, Microsoft Surface, Xbox, Towerrecords.com, and Intel. She currently works as a user experience researcher on the Microsoft Server and Management Studios' virtualization team. She also contributes to Terra Nova, a collaborative blog exploring virtual worlds.

Currently intrigued by relevance, insight into the human condition, a good experience, gadgets, and contemplating our future.
