Elisabeth Hayes
Biography

Elisabeth R. Hayes is Professor of English at Arizona State University. She has published widely on the topics of literacy, learning, gender, and new digital media. Her recent publications include Women as Gamers: The Sims and 21st Century Learning (2010) and Language in a Digital Age (2011), both with J. Gee, and an edited book in progress, New Literacies in Videogaming Affinity Spaces (co-edited with S. Duncan). Hayes’s research has been supported by the MacArthur Foundation and the National Science Foundation. Her most recent work includes an investigation of the social, technical and linguistic affordances of diverse online gaming communities.
