Harvey Smith


Harvey Smith is a game designer and creative director at who has been making games professionally since 1993. Prior to his current work at Midway Games, he worked at Ion Storm’s Austin office from 1998 to 2004, acting as Project Director of Deus Ex: Invisible War and Lead Designer on the award-winning Deus Ex. Before Ion Storm, he worked at Multitude, an Internet startup in San Mateo, California. There he was Lead Designer of FireTeam, an innovative tactical squad game that was one of the earliest videogames to feature voice-communications between players. Smith started his career at the pivotal game company Origin Systems, working there for almost four years. He travels extensively, speaking on a variety of topics related to game design, leadership, and story. In 2005, he won the Game Design Challenge at GDC for his entry, Peacebomb! In 2007, he was a nominee for the Dewey Winburne Community Service Award.
