Conference Scholarships for Teachers & Students

A limited number of scholarships for teachers and students are available through the generous support of our conference sponsors, which will reduce the registration cost to $50 total. The goal of this program is to encourage practicing P-12 teachers and current students interested in videogaming technologies to participate in this event. Deadline for application is April 15, 2006 and the number of scholarships available is limited.

Participants must be either (1) practicing teachers in a pre-school to high school setting (higher education does not qualify), or (2) students enrolled full-time in an accredited University working toward a degree. Candidates will be chosen on the basis of a one page essay describing their interest in videogame-related technologies and pedagogies. Specifically, in one single-spaced page or less, please answer the following: Why do you want to attend the GLS conference? How do you feel participation will benefit you?
To apply, simply submit your one page essay application to [email protected] by April 15, 2006.

Please do not register for the conference until after you receive notification of the status of your application on May 1, 2006. If you receive the scholarship, you will be sent information on how to register at the reduced price on May 1. If you do not receive the scholarship, you will be sent information on how to register at the Early Registration price on May 1 (In other words, we guarantee all applicants who do not receive the scholarship a seat at the conference at the Early Registration price after May 1 even though Early Registration will be closed by then).

Please note: Teachers who are awarded scholarships will also attend pre-conference teacher workshops held on June 14, 2006. Continuing education units are also available for participation. Please email [email protected] for more information.

Cancellations and Refunds

If you cancel a registration before June 5, 2006, a full refund minus a $50 handling fee will be given. No refunds can be given after June 5, 2006. A substitute may be sent in place of the original registrant, but the individual participant or company/organization is responsible for coordinating and communicating this to the conference organizers via email to: [email protected].
