Elizabeth King

Biography

Elizabeth (Beth) King is a doctoral student in University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Educational Communications and Technology program studying with Constance Steinkuehler and working as a research assistant to Betty Hayes. King currently works with Betty on the Tech Savvy Girls project, which examines how middle school girls develop informational technology fluency while playing computer games. She also works with Constance on the Boy’s MMO Lab assisting boys in the development of literacy skills while playing World of Warcraft. Beth has nearly 20 years of experience in adult and youth education, centering on entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology, including several years as a high school teacher and technology coordinator, teaching in both rural locations and an inner-city alternative high school. She also served as an outreach manager and instructor in the areas of adult entrepreneurship and general business.
