Barbara Chamberlin

Biography

Dr. Barbara Chamberlin is an assistant professor, extension instructional designer, and educational media specialist at New Mexico State University (NMSU). Chamberlin currently directs work in the Learning Games Lab at NMSU, a research space for educational games development. In the Learning Games Lab, her team analyzes and observes kids playing other commercial and educational games, in order to better understand what makes games fun to each audience and how to integrate those elements into educational games in development at NMSU. She is on faculty with the Media Productions department at NMSU, serving as an instructional designer of games and multimedia. Her current research interests include educational game design, implementation of technology into informal learning programs (such as after-school programs and 4-H), use of digital images in education, and the use of technology in the Cooperative Extension Service.
