Timothy Burke is professor of history at Swarthmore College. He is the author of Lifebuoy Men, Lux Women: Commodification, Consumption and Cleanliness in Modern Zimbabwe (Duke, 1996) and co-author of Saturday Morning Fever: Growing up With Cartoon Culture (St. Martin’s, 1999). He maintains his own weblog called Easily Distracted and also writes for the weblog Terra Nova. His primary interest in virtual worlds and MMO games centers on the invention and circulation of political, social, and economic practices within virtual worlds and on the management and development of virtual worlds by designers and companies.
