Ed McPherson
Biography
Ed McPherson is a non-traditional graduate student and classified staff employee in the Learning Technologies Group at Virginia Tech, in Blacksburg, Virginia. His duties include K–12 outreach and internal consulting for outreach program development.
Ed’s research focus combines sociology of education, out-of-school learning, and instructional technology to explore community-based strategies for closing the minority youth achievement gap in science and technology degree attainment.
His current work involves applying Internet 2.0 technologies for mentoring youth and increasing their awareness of computational science. He has worked with community based initiatives in Philadelphia, Chicago, New York City, New Jersey, and Virginia.
