Teresa Lyons is a doctoral student in curriculum and instruction at Virginia Tech. She is an employee of the Virginia State Department of Education’s Training and Technical Assistance Center at Virginia Tech. Teresa works with schools in far southwest Virginia to support them in their work with students with disabilities. Teresa is a former special education teacher who has developed an interest in the areas of autism, severe disabilities, communication, and assistive technology. It is Teresa’s desire to find ways to leverage new and emerging technologies to meet the needs of individuals with complex learning needs.
